Dairy farmers who allow dairy effluent to flow into stormwater drains and contaminate waterways have been put on notice by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) following the sixth such fine in Gippsland in the past year.

Dairy recalls raw milk for E. coli; best-by dates through Dec. 23

Anyone who has whole, raw milk on hand from Old Silvana Creamery should not consume it, according to the dairy owner, because samples of it have tested positive for E. coli, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal illnesses.

Dairy surrenders license because of contaminated raw milk

The owners of Pride & Joy Dairy have voluntarily surrendered their raw milk license because DNA testing showed that Salmonella infections in people who drank it matched bacteria in the dairy’s unpasteurized milk.

Don't drink raw milk, health authorities warn

Dairy cattle in Chiayi were confirmed this week to have been infected with bovine tuberculosis. Disease control authorities said Friday that there was a risk of cow-to-human transmission if a consumer drinks unsterilized milk, but that there was no cause for concern because all milk on the market must be sterilized.
