In the past, the late Hugo Chavez Frías, through CASA Corporation, tried to alleviate the deficit that existed in that country.
The milk is scarce in Venezuela, and the queues observed to buy the product are constant.
Long life milk, the alternative that is bought to a lesser extent, has been almost a rarity in the past few weeks.
The firm of public opinion “Datanálisis” estimated that the shortage of powdered milk reached 71.8%, making it the most difficult product to purchase.
“We have noticed that the product does not even reach the stores, therefore the people feel the shortage, and due to their expectations and anguish, take more than they need”, Roger Figueroa, executive president of the Venezuelan Chamber of Dairy Industries
In an attempt to retake the lead in trying to supply the country, Maduro created a new organism, CENCOEX (Centro Nacional de Comercio Exterior / National Centre of Foreign Trade)
Through this organism, they estimate to concentrate all purchases of powdered milk in the 2015 period, replacing licenses to privates that were granted until December 2014.
