A south-west Victorian dairy company is optimistic a trip to Asia’s largest food expo will open up new export markets for the fledgling business.

The Camperdown Dairy Company is among 3,000 exhibitors from across the globe participating in Singapore’s Food Hotel Asia expo.

The company’s CEO, Peter Skene, says he’s confident he’ll return home with new business deals.

«Within two minutes of the show opening, we had a distributor who’s looking for a source of dairy products that we’re looking at investing in in the future,» he said.

«We’ve established quite a relationship with them over the last 24 hours and they’re coming to visit us in Camperdown in the next few weeks.

«It’s those sort of business to business transactions, as opposed to a business to consumer transaction, that really occurs here.»

Up to 70,000 people will attend the four-day expo.

The Camperdown Dairy Company, started three years ago as Aussie Farmers Dairy, is exhibiting alongside other Victorian businesses.

Mr Skene says his first experience at the expo has him planning a return trip next year.

«I have no doubt that we’ll generate some business,» he said.

«We could even strike up a joint venture, or similar.

«We have some serious interest.»
