#TheGlobalDairy: Dairy Leaders Give Minister Action Plan

BRAZIL- The minister of agriculture, Mendes Ribeiro, has received a summation of the issues currently hampering dairying in a problem solving meeting in Brasilia on Wednesday.

Dairy farming leaders met to propose a shortlist of issues that could be then be addressed by the government.
The main priority was to maintain bilateral agreements so competitiveness and product competition are not lost. Other demands requested reinforcing sanitary control of imports and creating export quotas of dairy products to Uruguay.
The minister listened to the needs of leaders and assured that the Ministry has total interest in addressing the sector difficulties.
«This issues in dairying are a concern of ours and we are trying to resolve them. I want to be monitored for the ministry to take actions that show the producer that we are moving forward in solving the problems of the industry every day, «said Mendes Ribeiro Filho.
Whether Minister Mendes is succesful or not in addressing the issues raised at the meeting could have extensive rammifications. Brazil being the fifth largest milk producer in the world currently produces 32 billion liters per year. The main producing regions are Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Goiás, Santa Catarina and São Paulo where the reposnse of the government to this list of demands will probably be scrutinised the most.
