The dairy company based in Toppenish announced November 10 their surrender of their raw milk processing license on their website amid the Department of Agriculture’s (WSDA) request to stop processing raw milk.
The WSDA suspended the company’s milk processing plant license after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed milk samples taken during a routine sample, Sept. 18 contained pathogens of salmonella Dublin.
Pride & Joy complied to the suspension and responded with a statement that indicated their milk was safe to drink.
The DOH found two people became sick with salmonella Dublin who allegedly drank their product in January of 2017. The WSDA never detected any salmonella in their milk at that time, according to Pride and Joy’s response.
The company cited their loyal customers as a reason for trying to continue processing and selling raw milk before surrendering their license.
