National dairy symposium planned

The opening day of the event will feature a tour of two dairy farms in the capital region. The second day will feature a number of workshop sessions. Nathalie Savoie, a registered dietitian with Dairy Farmers of Canada will talk about the role of role of milk and milk products in a healthy sustainable diet.
Big Data & Cow Improvement, will be the theme of a talk by Brian Van Doormaal of the Canadian Dairy Network. Advances in modern technology and genomics in Canada’s dairy sector have significantly increased the data generated on farms. Discover the many applications of data that improve efficiency on Canadian farms.
Bob Chant , Senior Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Loblaw Companies Limited will talk about why sustainable food is important to retailers. Dave Taylor of Viewfield Farms will offer a farmer’s perspective on sustainability. Any business that lasts multiple generations understands the importance of sustainability and this family farm is no exception. Robert Coallier – CEO, Agropur Cooperative, will offer a processor’s perspective on sustainability.
Yves Leduc – Director, Policy and International Trade, Dairy Farmers of Canada, will provide an update of a wide range of programs and initiatives Dairy Farmers of Canada is involved in.
