UK – Morrisons has increased the price consumers will pay for four pints of milk by 25 per cent. It attributes this to soaring commodity prices. The increase, from £1.18 to £1.49, brings Morrisons price to the highest it has been for over a year.
The price increased on 8 October and applies to all of Morrisons standard branded milk. However, it will still offer four-pint poly-bottles for £1 under their tertiary brand Meadow Park and are also promoting a three for £3 on the four-pint bottles.
With supplies tightening and commodity prices on the rise, it remains to be seen it the other leading supermarkets will follow Morrisons lead and increase consumer prices.
