The Ulster Farmers Union said members will gather outside Parliament Buildings on Friday to highlight the “crisis” facing the dairy industry.
«People in Northern Ireland understand the importance of a vibrant food industry to the local economy – our aim is to make sure this message is heard in Brussels,” said UFU president Ian Marshall.
«We do not want to be in a situation where the farm commissioner, Phil Hogan, sees protests in Dublin, Paris or anywhere else but not in Belfast and uses that as a reason to conveniently ignore us.»
Local farmers have staged a series of protests at supermarkets in recent weeks over the price of milk.
The increase in production globally means that some farmers are now getting 20p per litre, down from 30p a year ago.
Speaking last Thursday, Agriculture Minister Michelle O’Neill said she wants to see Phil Hogan do more.
«I have been disappointed with his response to date and I believe his position is not sustainable,” she said.
The Sinn Féin minister added that she would meet Commissioner Hogan ahead of an emergency EU summit on the matter on 7 September in Brussels, which the UFU is expected to picket alongside other farmers from around Europe.
