The Government’s playing it safe over the next and final stage of the Fonterra botulism scare inquiry.
The next stage, which will look at how potentially contaminated product entered the market, will begin next week
Food Safety Minister Nikki Kaye says it would be fantastic if the inquiry could report back as soon as possible, but she’ll need more advice before a timeline is known.
«And if ministers put a date on that which is inappropriate then we could be at risk of judicial review.
«It’s really important the chair has the ability in the next couple of weeks to come back with ministers as to what an appropriate timeframe is.»
