Figures released in the EWOV annual report show that of the 63 rural water complaints it dealt with during that period, 42 were from GMW customers. Next highest was Southern Rural Water, with 10 complaints. But both companies had fewer than the previous year.
The number of complaints received from regional customers rose, up from 25 per cent in 2014-15 to 29 per cent.
Loddon Shire had the highest number of energy and water cases reported to the ombudsman in the state, followed by Central Goldfields and Murrindindi shires.
The parts of Victoria with the highest rates of energy disconnection/water restriction cases relating to credit issues were the shires of Baw Baw, South Gippsland, Hepburn and Central Goldfields.
Energy and Water Ombudsman Cynthia Gebert said there was evidence energy and water companies were managing their internal dispute resolution processes better.
