Mr Paravicini will join Fonterra in September after 22 years with Nestle.
He was Nestle Professional Europe general manager for the past two years and previously held senior finance positions in the Nestle business, including running the company’s Global Business Services unit and spending 10 years in Latin America.
Mr Mason was a former chief financial officer of Carter Holt Harvey and held management positions at International Paper and ExxonMobil. He has been Fonterra’s chief financial officer since 2009.
Fonterra chief executive Theo Spierings, who joined the company in 2011, said Mr Paravicini has a good understanding of dairy and has worked in some of Fonterra’s most strategically important markets.
The dairy co-operative also named Jacqueline Chow in the new role of managing director of Global Brands and Nutrition, driving the firm’s overall marketing, innovation and research activities.
Ms Chow has a 20-year career in blue-chip multinationals, most recently with Arnott’s where she was general manager of Australia and New Zealand, and has held executive marketing and innovation roles at Campbell’s and the Kellogg Company. She begins in October.
Fonterra said a new organisational structure will take effect from the start of its financial year on August 1.
