In this Generation Next: Calf Workshop, the focus will be on proper feeding of calves, preventing disease and having a comprehensive management program.
Jud Heinrichs, professor of dairy science, and Cassie Yost, Extension dairy educator, will be the presenters.
Particular emphasis will be given to navel care, colostrum management, calf health, calf housing and liquid feeding options.
Each workshop will run 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The cost is $25, which includes lunch. They are scheduled for:
• Dec. 12 — Scott Lackey, Sugar Branch Farms, 900 Besley Road, Columbia Cross Roads, Pa.
• Dec. 14 — Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, 1198 Wayne Ave., Indiana, Pa.
• Dec. 15 — Franklin County Ag Heritage Building, 185 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, Pa.
Each workshop is eligible for one AgChoice SmartStart credit. The deadline to register for Columbia Cross Roads is Dec. 5, and for Indiana and Chambersburg, Dec. 8.
