The Tianjin Bright and MengDe Dairy Group milks 20,000 cows in China, producing premium drinking yoghurt.
The property will not milk cows, instead raising dairy heifers before sending them to China on a boat from the port of Portland.
Jason Hellyer, from Let’s Go Australia, helped broker the deal.
«There are only two or three organisations that have quarantine facilities in mainland China,» he said.
«This particular group has just invested in building their own quarantine facility at Tianjin China.
«They just see this as a way for them to actually secure quality Australian animals back into their dairy group in Tianjin.»
The consortium hopes this farm would help it export dairy heifers from Australia starting next year.
Cattle for the first shipment of 1,500 heifers are being organised now.
The farm at Branxholme, north of Portland, will only run about 700 cattle at a time and the consortium will have to rely on other sources to fill out its shipment.
Mr Hellyer believef the number of cattle being exported by the group would grow over time.
«They are very keen to grow that (amount of cattle exported) over the coming years,» he said.
