Tourism Holdings executive resigns – Tourism Holdings senior executive Quinton Hall has resigned to take up a chief executive role with Ngai Tahu Tourism, effective July 7.
 
Hall, who was head of Discover Waitomo and Kiwi Experience and group support services, started with THL eight years ago. He had previously been at NZ Lotteries, and has a background in risk management and project management.
 
The role was unlikely to be replaced in its current form, although no final decision had been made, the company said.
 
New international role for Fonterra
Fonterra has appointed Henk Bles to the new role of managing director international farming ventures.
 
Bles has held leadership roles in the international dairy farming industry for more than 30 years, in dairy cattle, genetics and dairy development. He is a board member for the Dutch Cattle Association.
 
Bles will take up the role on April 14 for an initial six month period while a global search is underway for a permanent appointment.
 
Summerset occupation rights stable
Listed retirement village operator Summerset has sold 92 occupation rights for the first quarter of 2014, three more than the same period a year ago.
 
The rights were made up of 48 new sales and 44 resales.
 
Last year sales exceeded 400 units for the first time, up 21 per cent on a third year of record sales.
 
In February the Wellington-based company announced it had doubled its net profit to $34.2 million for the year ended December 31, 2013.
 
$3.1m penalty for cartel member
Swiss company Kuehne + Nagel has been fined $3.1 million for its role in a New Zealand cartel that created a fake ‘gardening club’.
 
Kuehne + Nagel was the last defendant out of six freight forwarding companies that participated in a price-fixing arrangement involving air security costs.
 
The ruling, made yesterday by High Court Justice Geoffrey Venning, brings the total penalties imposed in the case to $11.95 million.
 
Seeka seeking to buy Glassfields
Listed kiwifruit grower Seeka Kiwifruit Industries has agreed to buy fruit wholesaler Glassfields for an undisclosed amount.
 
Glassfields holds exclusive New Zealand rights to distribute Sumifru bananas, pineapples and papayas from the Philippines. It also provides banana ripening services.
 
The purchase is due to be completed on April 17.
 
New partners for law firm
Kensington Swan has appointed three new partners.
 
Ish Fraser is a property law specialist with expertise in leasing, transactional and seismic issues. He has been with the firm for 24 years.
 
Nicky McIndoe practises resource management law with particular experience in the transport, energy and local government sectors. She joins from another law firm.
 
Nicole Xanthopol is a banking lawyer across institutional and corporate finance transactions. She joins from a being a partner in the banking department at Linklaters, London.
