Award-winning B.-d. Farm Paris Creek is in the midst of a major extension of its facilities at Paris Creek, which will see the company install a new extended shelf line (ESL) for milk by November.
While B.-d. Farm’s founder Ulli Spranz declined to reveal the total investment into the expansion, the capital cost of installing the ESL is understood to be $5 million.
The ESL process involves flash pasteurisation, which helps retain the fresh taste and smell of the milk unlike when the milk is processed using ultra-high-temperature (UHT).
ESL milk has a shorter shelf life than UHT milk.
“We are preparing for exports now and expect 13 new jobs to be created,” Ms Spranz said.
