The European dairy goods giant has tied up with F. Mayer Imports, Australia’s largest cheese importer, through a 51:49 partnership. The new JV – to be called Arla Foods Mayer Australia Pty Ltd – will market, sell, and distribute imported and local dairy speciality products to the Australian market.
The entity comes into existence as of 4 May 2015, and will handle all of Arla’s current and future business in Australia. It will be headquartered in Sydney, and will be overseen by General Manager Lars Eggers (from Arla).
Arla said the tie-up is part of its aim to push revenue in Australia from the current 200m kroner (€27m) to 1bn kroner (€134m) by 2020.
