Uruguayan Dairy Exports Grew Four Percent

A total of $547 million USD entered Uruguay at the end of November for sales of dairy products abroad, four percent more than in the same period of 2016, the National Milk Institute reported today. Such report, published by the Secretariat of Institutional Communication, indicated that export volumes were lower than the previous year, but the main products had better prices.
It pointed out that in values butter grew 25 percent, whole milk powder five, cheeses three, while skimmed milk powder decreased by 22 percent, so far this year.
The main export destinations for the dairy products were Brazil, with 41 percent of total income, followed by Algeria, Russia, Mexico and Cuba, according to the document by the National Milk Institute.
