In a press release today, the Canadian government stated and repeated that it has, and will continue to defend and protect supply management during the negotiations. As of now, no deal has been reached. Our government continues to push-back against unrealistic demands from the US and New Zealand. The government understands that it is important for the Canadian economy that there are no negative impacts for Canadian dairy farmers at the conclusion of TPP.

With a deal likely to come next week, it is more important than ever for us to stay united, maintain pressure, and be vigilant. DFC continues to work with government officials, and will be on the ground in Atlanta to defend Canadian dairy farmers’ interests.

We encourage you to engage with your local candidates. Ask them where they stand on supply management. Explain to them the impact you have on your community, how you could be impacted personally, and what it means to you to be a dairy farmer. Take any opportunity to share your concerns with the ongoing TPP negotiations.

We will be providing updates from Atlanta.
