BRAZIL – Anti-dumping duties have been extended for five years on imports of milk powder from New Zealand and the European Union. The decision was determined by the Board of Trade on Tuesday. The Agricultural Minister, Mendes Ribeiro Filho emphasised the importance of the decision.

«I am pleased by the timely measure taken by the government against a practice in international trade that affects Brazilian farmers,» said Minister Filho.
“The measure applies to imports of the product from New Zealand, with a rate of 3.9 per cent, and the European Union (14.8 per cent).”
The duties, previously extended in February 2007, originated from 2001 legislation that established tariffs on milk powder. Duties were placed on New Zealand and the EU following a dumping investigation.
