The company said the increase was being made in the light of falling UK milk supplies and strengthening global dairy commodity values.
The new price will apply to some 381 of the group’s 1,094 dairy farmers, the remainder being retailer-aligned. Wiseman stresses this is a ‘clean’ milk price with no member retentions, capital levies, balancing or haulage charges.
It brings the processor’s increases since October 2012 to more than 5ppl.
Martin Armstrong, supply chain planning director for Mí¼ller Wiseman Dairies said: “Our milk price from June reflects continuing pressure on milk supplies and a strengthening in global dairy commodities. We believe that it is important to act in order to secure the milk required to meet our customers’ requirements.”
Roddy Catto, chairman of the Mí¼ller Wiseman Milk Group said the increase was “a step in the right direction”.
