Robert Macintyre says goodbye to his dairy herd

IT WAS an emotional day for everyone on Bute yesterday, where we saw the dispersal sale of Dunallan, tenanted by the Macintyre family since 1822.

This sale came a day after James McAlister dispersed some of his farm at Carlisle, for similar reasons as the family at Dunallan.

Robert Macintyre, the tenant farmer of Dunallan, himself was surprisingly calm, and claimed he was ‘quite relaxed’ about the sale.
He also discussed the reasons why he believed the dairy industry has reached the current situation on Bute, and what he thinks will happen to it, and dairy farming as a whole, in the future.
Have a look at his interview, which was very informative and entertaining, to say the least!
