“It’s been a wet winter and, as a result, properties coming on to the market have been delayed up to a month later than what we would have expected,” according to Elders Camperdown real estate agent Rob Rickard
“There are still quite a few properties coming on to the market from 500 acres (200ha) up.
“We always have to look at the vendor’s interest, so it’s important when properties come on to the market they look at their very best and they will in the coming weeks and months ahead with the excellent moisture that’s in the ground.”
While values for dairy properties remained stagnant prices for sheep, beef and broad acre land had increased since this time last year.
“Demand is very good across the board especially for cropping and livestock farms,” Mr Rickard said.
“Obviously the dairy industry has gone through a tough period in recent months but the inquiries are still there.
“For those wanting to exit the agricultural industry it is a premium time to receive good prices for both land and commodities.
“You’re getting excellent values for sheep and beef in livestock and the value in the land is also being reflected in that.”
