Dairy farmers in New Zealand have started a franchise selling raw milk through self-serve dispensers.

It’s illegal to sell raw milk in Australia, but each New Zealander is allowed to buy 5 litres of raw milk per person per day.

Timaru dairy farmer Stuart Weir is waiting for his milk dispenser to arrive from Italy. It will be set up in his dairy and customer will pay $2.50 a litre for raw milk.

«It’s a refrigerated cabinet that holds a 300 litre tank and we milk a separate little herd of cows, our highest quality cows will be milked into that tank. You put your money in the slot, or you can buy a pre-loaded memory stick. It gives you change out, than you put your bottle in the door in the front and away you go.»
