The programme offers an exclusive insight into the supply chain, industry organisations and influencing policy. With a focus on innovation and competitiveness, up to 12 successful applicants will get the opportunity to speak directly to major dairy processors, manufacturers and retailers. At the heart of the programme is business networking and members of the group will meet with senior staff at the NFU, AHDB, NML, Red Tractor and Dairy UK. There will be the opportunity to speak to MPs and Defra during a visit to Westminster, where successful applicants will learn more about our core lobbying and political activity.
The group will also be given media and presentation skills training, with advice to handle tough questions from journalists and to represent their sector in a positive and professional way.
The previous NFU Dairy Development Group was run in 2010 and led to the 2014-16 National Dairy Board Chairman and 2016-18 Vice Chairman, as well as board appointees and other members going on to be influential in many dairy groups around the UK.
How do I apply?
To apply for the scheme please send your CV and a cover letter detailing why you would like to be chosen for the group to NFU dairy adviser and programme co-ordinator, Sophie James sophie.james@nfu.org.uk. If possible, please include your NFU membership number.

When is the deadline for applications?
The deadline for applications is Friday 14th October at midday.
Is there an age limit?
The scheme is aimed at the next generation and participants are usually aged between 20 and 35 years old, but there is flexibility depending on individual circumstances.
