In February this year New Zealand exported just over 144,000 tons of whole milk powder (WMP). This was 58% more than in the same month in 2012. Statistics NZ data shows that China alone accounted for over 60,000 tons of the product shipped from New Zealand this February.Export volumes were up each of New Zealand’s 10 largest export destinations with the exception of Venezuela. In Venezuela export volumes were down 33% from a year ago but up from two years ago. The volume of WMP New Zealand is exporting to Cuba has risen significantly this year. In the month of February Cuba was our 5thlargest export destination by volume, accounting for more than 5,000 tons of WMP. The five largest trading destinations for WMP in February were in order of volume: China, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Egypt, and Cuba.
