Milk production is still running ahead of the past season.
Fonterra’s latest figures show that its milk collection across the country for the eight months until the end of January was 4.2% higher than the previous season.
It says rain through December and early January helped to keep the milk flow 3.7 percent higher in the North Island and 5 percent higher in the South.
On a monthly basis, January milk collection was more than 7 percent up on a year ago, when the summer drought was taking hold.
