The imported quantities of this product (milk powder, milk creams and dairy fats used as inputs) have also decreased to 358,943 tons against 372,126 tons, a decline of nearly 3.54%, said the National Centre of Data Processing and Statistics of the Customs (CNIS).
This decrease in the import bill is driven by not only the decline in imported quantities but also the drop in milk import prices by Algeria.
During the first six months of 2016, Algeria’s average imports price of milk powder amounted to USD 2,311 per ton against USD2,834 per tons in the same period of 2015, down 18.5%.
Same downward trend was experienced for dairy fats, as it fell to USD3,743 per ton against USD3,951 per ton, a 5,3% drop between the two periods of comparison.
