The Australian Grand Dairy Awards were announced in Melbourne yesterday and dairy producers based in south west Victoria have done very well with the Mil Lel Parmesan cheese, produced at Simpson, winning best parmesan but also best hard cheese.

Chief judge Neil Willman told Dominic Brine that he was also impressed by other entries from our patch that performed well against stiff competition to make the finals.
These were Dooley’s Premium Licorice Ice Cream, Dooley’s Premium Honey Malt Ice Cream, Warrnambool Heritage Tasty Cheddar, Warrnambool Mature Cheddar and a Mil Lel Romano.
Neil also shared his assessment of how the Australian dairy industry is going against a tide of globalisation of the industry.
