In the post, owner Tim Iwig wrote his dairy’s marketing co-op was taken over by a larger co-op. He said the larger co-op refused to market his dairy.
Iwig said consumers prefer the kind of milk his dairy produced, but it isn’t marketed well. He claimed the low temperature pasteurization process they used made for better tasting milk than milk pasteurized by competitors at higher temperatures.
He said the dairy industry is in a crisis because milk consumption is down by 40 percent since 1970. Iwig wrote dairy farmers like himself should have better marketed their low temperature pasteurized milk.
Iwig said the lack of marketing caused them to pour much of their commodity bulk milk down the drain. He said his family lost the home and farm they’ve had since 1910.
