The application window for the EU Conditional Aid Scheme closes at midnight on 30 June 2017.
To qualify for the payment, which will be made by the end of September, producers need to submit an online pro forma questionnaire which captures data about their farm business.
AHDB Dairy will use the information to prepare a benchmarking report in the autumn.
Richard Corbett, a partner at Roger Parry & Partners, urged those who had not yet applied to do so in order to get their share of the funding.
“Farmers participating in the scheme should receive a report identifying their business’ strengths and any weaknesses with a comparison against industry performance indicators,” he said.
Anonymity assurances
The government had given assurances the data will remain anonymous and AHDB will only publish aggregated data for comparative purposes, he added.
The scheme is only open to dairy farmers in Wales and eligible farms are those that were in milk production with a supply contract on 1 January 2016.
However, support schemes aimed at small dairy producers have been running in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Farms with land outside Wales can participate in the scheme if the majority of their land is in Wales.
