Hoggard is currently at the Federated Farmers Annual Conference in Wellington where he delivered his «dynamic presentation».
Once Andrew rebuffs Dom’s flattery about his presentation prowess, it’s down to brass tacks about the big issues for dairy.
Hoggard covered many subjects at the conference including managing debts and debt levels on farms, GM labelling and finally fresh water; to keep the «keyboard warriors» happy.
Of course Brexit rears its head but it wasn’t a major topic of conversation. There are opportunities for dairy but also downsides.
Hoggard points out that the drama caused by the vote shows what an impact trade barriers make rather than whether it’ll affect the stamps on people’s passports.
Finally, Dom and Andrew discuss Rabobank’s Rural Confidence survey where it has been reported that farmers are positive for the first time in 15 months.
Does Hoggard agree with these findings? Are things for the dairy industry finally looking up?
