Primary Industries Minister Nathan Guy says it will be released within the next few weeks, along with the Government’s response.
The Government ordered the inquiry after Fonterra discovered some of its whey protein, used to make baby milk formula, contained a bacteria that it believed could cause botulism.
There were world-wide product recalls and some countries banned or restricted New Zealand dairy products.
About a month later, further testing showed the bacteria was harmless.
The report the Government has just received investigated the way the crisis was handled.
An earlier inquiry report, released in December last year, made 29 recommendations covering food safety regulations.
The Government accepted all the recommendations.
