Fonterra’s milk collection is still running ahead of last season.
In the five months to the end of October, it collected more than 530 million kilograms of milk solids, 4.7% above the corresponding period last year.
The co-op says spring conditions created challenges last month, with strong winds and heavy rain battering both the North and South islands.
Despite that, daily milk volumes reached a new record of 87 million litres at the peak on 23 October. Volumes for the month were up 3.7% compared with last year.
Most of the growth in milk supply in is the South Island, where the intake for October showed a 5.8% increase.
