The company is offering a full trading fee waiver until the 30 June to facilitate the start up of trading of these instruments.

These new trading options are going to made available following the end of the European milk quota regime and the projected rise in EU milk production. Milk production in the EU is expected to increase by 1% this year with more significant increases in subsequent years.

These new dairy futures will allow the EU dairy community to hedge its exposure to price fluctuations in this volatile market following the expiration of milk quotas.

In November 2014, Euronext announced plans for a full suite of dairy futures and options that would be listed in Amsterdam in the wake of the dismantling of the EU milk quota system. Options differ from futures in that the holder of an option contract has the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a commodity at a predetermined price.
