Dairy farmers elect district officers

AMPI member-owners heard reports on the status of the milk marketing business and elected officers during the District 50 meeting held Nov. 10 in the Sanborn Community Center.
The district includes AMPI members living in the Iowa counties of Audubon, Buena Vista, Carroll, Cherokee, Crawford, Dickinson, Emmet, Hancock, Humboldt, Ida, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Sac, and Sioux.
Leaders elected to represent the district in 2018 are:
Richard Pausma of Melvin, president;
Loren Woelber of George, vice president;
Cari Knapp of Larchwood, secretary;
Brad Korver of Alton, resolutions committee person;
Galen Fick of Boyden, delegate;
Mark Janssen of Gilmore City, delegate;
John Westra of Primghar, alternate delegate;
Bruce Brockshus of Ocheyedan, director;
Kevin Knapp of Larchwood, director;
Mark Sipma of Boyden, director.
“Serving in an elected position is one way AMPI member-owners take an active role in overseeing the farm-to-market business in which we share ownership,” Pausma said.
Among other duties, district officers review co-op business operations.
AMPI is headquartered in New Ulm, MN.
The cooperative’s member-owners annually market about 5.5 billion pounds of milk, resulting in $1.6 billion in sales.
AMPI owns 10 Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese, butter and dried whey is produced.
The cooperative’s award-winning dairy products are marketed to food service, retail and food ingredient customers.
