Dairy farmers: Boost profits in a fluctuating economy

Mark Stephenson, director of Cornell University’s Center for Dairy Profitability, predicts all milk prices will be down from 2017 by $1.55-per-hundred-weight for 2018. Another year of low milk prices means another year farmers will have to tighten their belts and do whatever possible to keep costs down and cash flowing.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) will offer a workshop, “Maximizing Cost of Production with PRO-Dairy,” from 1:30-3 p.m. March 14 at its Extension Education Center at 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road in Liberty. Lunch will be provided.
Ashley Howlett of Cornell PRO-Dairy will present an in-depth look at maximizing dairy production, understanding milk and feed production costs, and management strategies to decrease expenses and increase efficiency.
