#Daily Dairy Trading: Active Market Sees Cheddar Barrels Lose Ground Late in Week

Friday’s spot close saw Cheddar Barrels 2 cents lower to $1.6500 after 20 trades in a week of constant flux for dairy prices.
The drop put Barrels 2.50 cents below Blocks, which were unchanged on $1.6750, after a week of fluctuations around an average price of $1.6720 – above the previous week’s average of $1.6581.
Up 0.50 cents on Friday, Grade A Non-fat dry milk closed on $1.7500, up on the week’s average price of $1.7435. This followed Monday and Tuesday prices of $1.7400 and more movement later in the week.
Extra Grade Non-fat dry milk held steady early in the week and then lifted on Thursday to $1.7250 where it closed the week, ahead of the previous week’s average of $1.7075.
In a week in which Class IV July Milk held steady on $19.09, July Class III Milk futures closed the week at $17.36 after dropping 2 cents.
July Cheese tailed off at the end of the week, closing on $1.7090 with Whey also finishing the week down to $1.7090.
