The mega dairy, to be located at Gejjalgere near Maddur in Mandya district, will have a processing capacity of 12 lakh litres of milk a day and will cost ₹227.47 crore. The dairy is expected to augment milk procurement and production capacity in the region, which has been showing an annual growth of 10%. Expected to be completed in 15 to 20 months, the dairy will also help improve farm income.
Earlier, Mr. Siddaramaiah interacted with mediapersons and spoke on various issues, including the investigation into the Gauri Lankesh murder case. He said there cannot be a time frame for such investigations and the Special Investigation Team was already on the job. On the demand by the family members of Gauri to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation, Mr. Siddaramaiah said he would discuss the issue with them.
On water issues
On the Mahadayi water-sharing dispute, Mr. Siddaramaiah said he has written to the Chief Ministers of Goa and Maharashtra on many occasions seeking an early resolution. It is also for the BJP leadership in the State to approach the Goa and Maharashtra CMs to resolve the issue but they have not taken any initiative, he said.
On the demand for release of water to canals, Mr. Siddaramaiah sounded optimistic and said a decision would be taken at the Irrigation Consultative Committee meeting.
C.S. Puttaraju, Mandya MP, listed a slew of projects yet to be completed in his constituency and sought adequate funding. Ministers H.M. Revanna, A. Manju, M. Krishnappa, MLA K.S. Puttanaiah and others were present.
