Co-director of the Australian Wild Camel Corporation, Hannah Purss, sees huge unused potential for opportunities around Alice Springs, due to the region’s large population of feral camels.
“Basically harnessing the natural resource that we have in camels really has huge potential for Central Australia,” Ms Purss said.
“Not just for our business … we’re planning to expand into that region, and we think that will be positive for us, and we also think it will be positive for anyone that really has access to camels or people that have camels on their property which they see as a problem.
“It provides people with another source of income; those that have camels or are affected by camels.”
Ms Purss currently operates the Corporation alongside three business partners, with their base in southeast Queensland.
