Consumers urged to dispose of product due to insufficient pasteurization.
“Cream Top Chocolate Milk” made by Dairy Goddess of Lemoore, Calif., is the subject of a recall and quarantine order announced today by California State Veterinarian Dr. Annette Whiteford.
The quarantine order came following the determination that a lack of proper pasteurization could have allowed dangerous pathogens to survive in the milk. No illnesses have been reported, and the producer is cooperating with the recall.
Consumers are strongly urged to dispose of any product remaining in their refrigerators with a code date of 7-11-2012. The producer reports that the recalled chocolate milk was marketed only at farmers’ markets in San Luis Obispo and Clovis. It was sold in sizes of eight ounces, one quart, and one-half gallon.
