UK – The German owned discounter, Aldi, has announced that it will be increasing the price it pays for milk to allow its suppliers to pay farmers more for their milk. The increase is to occur in October although exact figures have not been confirmed.
Aldi have confirmed they will be contributing to the increases in payments for both Arla and Robert Wiseman Daries (RWD). Arla are increasing their standard litre price by 2.50ppl from 1 October for their non-aligned farmers, while RWD are increasing their milk partnership standard litre price by 2.58ppl from 15 October.
This comes after Aldi increased the price the company paid for milk by 2ppl from 1 August 2012.
